Abu Dhabi Shuts Down Five Restaurants and a Supermarket for Food Safety Violations

To protect community health and guarantee that food safety is upheld, Abu Dhabi’s Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has closed five restaurants and a supermarket for repeated breaches of food safety rules. This move is part of a series of inspections conducted on all food institutions across the emirate to ensure that safe and high-quality food reaches the markets and consumers’ hands.

The six establishments shut down were Lahore Garden Grill Restaurant & Cafeteria LLC, Karak Future Cafeteria, Rukn Al Maqam Restaurant, Pak Ravi Restaurant (Branch 1), Salty Desi Darbar Restaurant, and Rich & Fresh Supermarket LLC. They were involved in continuous violations that posed a major risk to food safety, prompting ADAFSA to take decisive action.

ADAFSA imposed closures on the facilities due to their repeated offenses and failure to address previous warnings from the organization. These failures extended to such offenses as not maintaining appropriate food handling and cleanliness requirements and neglecting critical health and safety measures. The agency was clear that the establishments must remain closed until such time as they could demonstrate to public health inspectors that they had corrected all of the violations and ensure suitable safe, clean, and healthy food environments.

By taking this action, ADAFSA is demonstrating its commitment to improving the food safety system in Abu Dhabi, by ensuring that all types of food establishments (no matter how big or small) comply with strict food safety requirements. Besides the closure, ADAFSA will keep monitoring all food establishments in order to avoid any further health hazard.

“We have a zero-tolerance policy on violations of food safety conditions, and we will maintain stringent monitoring to ensure that all food facilities in the emirate operate at the highest levels of safety and security,” said an ADAFSA spokesperson. The authority stressed that such inspections are part of its continued campaign to protect public health and ensure the quality of food in the capital.

ADAFSA also stressed the public’s responsibility in preserving safety of food stuffs. You are invited to report any contraventions or complaints to the free est number of the Government of Abu Dhabi, on 800555. The hotline allows ADAFSA’s inspectors to conduct quick inspections of complaints and take action to safeguard consumers.

The shutdowns have pushed a crucial conversation about the responsibility of consumers and businesses in ensuring safe food. ADAFSA’s action is a reminder to food outlets and to consumers that efforts to ensure a safe and healthy eating space is everyone’s responsibility.

Abu Dhabi is committed to facilitating the flow of safe food into the marketplace and protecting the health and safety of consumers, and it is enhancing its food safety system to enable it to do so.
