Mumbai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, officially inaugurated DP World’s Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) at the Nhava Sheva Business Park (NSBP) in Mumbai, India, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the economic ties between the UAE and India.
This state-of-the-art logistics facility, part of DP World’s $200 million investment in India, enhances trade connectivity between the two nations. “The development of world-class logistics infrastructure like the Nhava Sheva Business Park will strengthen bilateral trade and support our shared vision for innovation, growth, and sustainability,” said Sheikh Hamdan during the inauguration.
A Modern Hub for Trade
The Nhava Sheva Business Park spans 1 million sq. ft. of warehousing space, with plans for an additional 1 million sq. ft. The facility provides specialized, temperature-controlled spaces tailored to various industry needs, increasing supply chain efficiency. Sheikh Hamdan, accompanied by Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, toured the facility and was briefed on the park’s operations, which include value-added services designed to streamline business processes.
DP World’s network of FTWZs across India, which includes facilities in Chennai and Kochi, offers a seamless connection to the Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai, enabling smoother cargo movement. This integration boosts the competitiveness of both countries’ supply chains while lowering costs.
Strengthening UAE-India Relations
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem emphasized that the Free Trade Warehousing Zones (FTWZs) are a vital part of DP World’s strategy to enhance its presence in India and meet the growing needs of its customer base. “The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the UAE and India is already facilitating the growth of bilateral trade, and the FTWZ network plays a crucial role in enhancing trade efficiency,” Sulayem said.
As part of his visit, Sheikh Hamdan also planted a sapling at the park, symbolizing the UAE’s commitment to sustainability and the deepening ties with India.
Empowering Communities and Sustainability
In a significant gesture, 35 women from local communities were employed to work at the facility during the inauguration, highlighting DP World’s commitment to empowering women and creating opportunities for local communities.
The Nhava Sheva Business Park is part of a broader initiative by DP World to develop world-class infrastructure in India and further elevate the trade relationship between the UAE and India, strengthening their position in the global marketplace.
