In a landmark decision, the UAE and Lebanon have agreed to allow citizens to travel between the two nations, following the implementation of necessary measures to ensure seamless movement. This move is part of a broader effort to deepen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation across multiple sectors.
The announcement came after the working visit of Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to the UAE, where both countries issued a joint statement highlighting their shared commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties. The discussions between the two leaders, held at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi, focused on fostering mutual understanding, stability, and economic growth.
During the visit, President Sheikh Mohamed expressed his optimism that Aoun’s trip would further solidify the UAE-Lebanon relationship and advance the shared goals of prosperity and peace. Sheikh Mohamed reiterated the UAE’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s stability and sovereignty, which is critical for the country’s recovery and development.
In addition to diplomatic talks, both sides discussed ways to boost economic collaboration. The two nations are keen on leveraging existing opportunities, promoting the exchange of expertise, and improving government operations. Notably, the Knowledge Exchange Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs will send a delegation to Beirut to share the UAE’s best practices in enhancing governmental performance, which will benefit both countries’ public and private sectors.
Furthermore, the UAE and Lebanon have agreed to form a joint Emirati-Lebanese Business Council. This council will serve as a platform to evaluate potential business projects and identify avenues for mutual investment. As part of these efforts, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development will send a delegation to Lebanon to explore and assess potential joint cooperation projects that can further strengthen economic ties.
The broader goal of these initiatives is to create a robust partnership that not only benefits both countries but also serves as a model for diplomatic and economic collaboration in the region. As these steps unfold, both the UAE and Lebanon look forward to a future of enhanced travel, commerce, and cooperation.
