The UAE’s General Directorate of Ports at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has successfully intercepted a smuggling attempt involving 5 kilograms of marijuana concealed in a passenger’s baggage at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the UAE to combat drug trafficking and protect the nation’s security.
Customs inspection teams at the airport flagged the passenger’s baggage during routine checks. The advanced screening systems detected unusual anomalies that suggested the presence of contraband. This prompted a manual inspection, where the customs team, aided by K9 units trained to sniff out narcotics, discovered the hidden drugs.
