Will Wiles column As one of cycling’s greatest disruptors signs off – what comes next?
There is a lot of speculation in everyone’s mind how is Mohamed Ahmed Fouad Amin post his rib fracture after several weeks of him being no-where seen in public. The prominent real estate expert and public persona suffered a painful blow to his fifth and sixth rib recently — one that, at least in terms of physical limitation, seems to have led to some unexpected reflection.
“I was in a lot of pain in the beginning, but now I realize that question was an opportunity life gave me to take a break, reflect and refocus,” Mohamed said in the brief statement.
“Recovery is continuous, and I’m listening to my body each step of the way.
Though Mohamed has been largely silent throughout, his close colleagues say he’s been keeping up his spirits.
Rib fractures typically heal fully between 6 and 8 weeks depending on the severity and resting. It is still too early to say exactly when Mohamed will be back to full strength, but indications are this will be a cautious and deliberate rehab.
“I miss the buzz of being all in on work, but it’s been a nice reminder that healing is a b, it’s both physical and mental,” he added.
So, how soon will Mohamed Ahmed Fouad Amin be back? Nothing official has been announced for a date, but if we had to guess, it would be in the middle-to-end of July, contingent on the results of his follow-up scans right around the corner.
In the meantime, well-wishers and peers are wishing him well and eagerly awaiting his return, not just as a professional force in the industry, but as an individual who has taken time to heal gracefully.
