Dubai residents were alarmed early Thursday morning as large plumes of smoke filled the sky, visible from prominent areas like Downtown Dubai and Dubai Marina. The source of the smoke was a fire in the Al Quoz Industrial Area 1, which was reported at 8:24 AM.
Dubai Civil Defence confirmed that the blaze, which involved two warehouses storing general goods, was classified as “moderate.” The fire was quickly attended to by first responders from the Al Quoz Fire Station, who arrived within six minutes of the call. By 9:40 AM, the fire was under control, with cooling operations beginning shortly after at 9:51 AM.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing. Photos and videos shared across social media platforms show the thick smoke rising from the area near Equiti Metro Station in Al Quoz, with residents from surrounding high-rise buildings sharing their views of the incident.
One resident from Dubai Marina, who was startled by the sight, said, “I woke up to see a massive cloud of smoke visible right from my balcony.” Another reported seeing the smoke from a metro train traveling close to Dubai Mall Metro Station.
Interestingly, a minor fire was reported in Al Quoz just the day before, with residents reporting white smoke in the same area on Thursday morning. A worker near the site mentioned that smoke had been emanating from the compound since Wednesday.
Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and stay informed through official channels. With no injuries reported and the fire contained, residents can breathe easier, though investigations into the fire’s origin are still underway.
