A tragic dispute over Dh180,000 escalated into a fatal stabbing in Dubai, leading to the death of a Chinese man and the arrest of two suspects. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Z.H.S., was killed in his apartment on the 36th floor of a tower in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), where he lived with his wife, who is from another Asian country.
According to police reports, the incident unfolded after the victim invited two friends to his home. His wife, who was in the apartment at the time, said that her husband asked her to go to another room with her friends. Shortly afterward, a heated argument broke out among the three men over money.
The wife reported hearing her husband scream and rushed to the scene, only to find him lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound to his chest. Despite the quick arrival of Dubai Police, paramedics, and forensic teams, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Forensic experts confirmed that the fatal wound struck his heart, leading to rapid blood loss and immediate death.
One of the suspects, identified as A.Y.N., was found hiding in a stairwell, while the second suspect, J.W.J., was arrested hours later in his car nearby. Both men confessed to the crime, stating that the victim owed them money—Dh145,000 to J.W.J. and Dh35,000 to A.Y.N. The suspects claimed that the victim had refused to acknowledge the debts and insulted them during their confrontation.
Before visiting the victim’s apartment, the suspects bought two knives from a nearby grocery store, intending to confront him about the money. During the argument, they decided to stab the victim and flee the scene using the stairs. The case has now been referred to public prosecution and is under trial. We anticipate a verdict shortly.
