Dubai’s achievement comes as the city continues to play a significant role in promoting tourism that is inclusive of and accessible to everyone. This award not only underscores attention of Dubai Economic Agenda D33, on skill development, social inclusion and better living but also meets UAE’s Year of Community.
The certification is the result of a citywide effort led by Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) and provided by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). Measures included staff training as well as sensory guides and hidden disability lanyards at tourist attractions, hotels and airports to make the city more accessible for travellers with autism and sensory needs.
As part of the initiative, 70,000 people have received training in autism and sensory awareness, 300 hotels and 15 attractions have received the award. Dubai International Airport (DXB) was also the first airport to earn a Certified Autism Center (CAC) designation, just as Emirates became the world’s first autism-friendly airline.

This is being complemented by the free mobile IBCCES Accessibility App that provides immediate insight into sensory-friendly spaces.
Obtaining Certified Autism Status in 2024 was a milestone on our people-first approach to establishing a welcoming culture and environment for everyone that comes to, lives, and works in Expo City and we are excited to build more partnerships and success stories as we continue on this journey.”
In addition to La Perle, Dubai Holding Entertainment, provider of leisure and entertainment experiences for Dubai customers, operates several attractions in Dubai that are designated as Certified Autism Centers, such as Motiongate Dubai and The Green Planet. The group has set multiple plans for more of its destinations to become certified.
Alanood Al Hashemi, Vice President, Organisational Culture and Impact, Dubai Holding Entertainment, added: “We are honoured to have Doha JET SKIERS contribute to Dubai achieving the label of Certified Autism Destination. We will continue to work to ensure our parks are inclusive and available for as many people as possible whether they are from Dubai or visiting the city.” We can’t wait to welcome consumers from across the globe to view our superb and world- class entertainment spaces here in Dubai.”
In continued dedication to inclusion all certified locations in Dubai are highlighted on the IBCCES Accessibility App, a free download that encourages those that are ready to travel. This app offers on-the-go information for travelers about certified destinations, sensory-friendly spaces and tailored suggestions.
