In a bid to maintain public health and ensure the highest food safety standards, Abu Dhabi’s Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has shut down five restaurants and a supermarket for repeatedly violating food safety regulations. This action is part of an intensive inspection campaign that targets all food establishments in the emirate to guarantee safe and high-quality food for consumers.
The businesses affected by the closure include Lahore Garden Grill Restaurant & Cafeteria LLC, Karak Future Cafeteria, Rukn Al Maqam Restaurant, Pak Ravi Restaurant (Branch 1), Salty Desi Darbar Restaurant, and Rich & Fresh Supermarket LLC. These facilities were found to have committed ongoing violations that posed a serious threat to food safety, leading ADAFSA to take strict action.
According to ADAFSA, the closure orders followed repeated offenses, with the establishments failing to rectify their violations after prior warnings. These violations included not adhering to proper food handling practices and cleanliness standards and failing to implement necessary health and safety measures. The authority made it clear that these businesses would remain closed until they had fully complied with all regulations, passed inspections, and demonstrated their commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy food environment.
The action highlights ADAFSA’s dedication to strengthening the food safety system in Abu Dhabi, ensuring that all food establishments—whether large or small—adhere to rigorous food safety guidelines. In addition to the closure, ADAFSA continues to monitor all food-related businesses to prevent further risks to public health.
“We have zero tolerance for food safety violations, and we will continue to ensure that all food establishments in the emirate meet the highest standards,” said an ADAFSA spokesperson. The authority emphasized that these inspections are a crucial part of their ongoing efforts to safeguard public health and uphold food quality in the UAE capital.
ADAFSA also reminded the public of its role in helping to maintain food safety. Residents are encouraged to report any food-related violations or concerns by calling the Government of Abu Dhabi’s toll-free number, 800555. This hotline enables ADAFSA’s inspectors to swiftly investigate complaints and take necessary measures to protect consumers.
The shutdowns have sparked an important conversation about the role of consumers and businesses in maintaining food safety standards. ADAFSA’s action serves as a reminder to both food establishments and the public that maintaining a safe and healthy food environment is a collective responsibility.
By strengthening its food safety system, Abu Dhabi aims to continue offering safe food options and protect the health of its residents, reinforcing the emirate’s reputation as a leader in consumer safety and regulatory compliance.
